The CFAO Group signs a new health partnership with ALIMA and becomes the first Pan-African private partner of the medical NGO
Sèvres, 07/12/2021 – The CFAO Group has signed a three-year partnership with the NGO ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) and thus become the NGO’s first Pan-African private partner. Through this partnership, CFAO is consolidating its commitment to supporting the humanitarian emergency that consists in the rapid deployment of medical aid in crisis situations, as well as the training of health professionals to meet the significant need for qualified local human resources.
ALIMA, whose operational headquarters are in Dakar, was born of the desire to create a new model of humanitarian organization, capable of enhancing the value of local skills and promoting research by synergising the operational skills of NGOs and international research institutes. ALIMA was built as a medical alliance bringing together many African NGOs present in the field. Together, they intervene in humanitarian crisis situations requiring emergency medical programmes. In its twelve years of existence, ALIMA has provided care to 7 million patients in twelve African countries.
In the 39 African countries in which CFAO operates, the Group is committed to the economic and social development of regions and countries, through its businesses and internal programmes and partnerships. CFAO thus distributes pharmaceutical products to 28 countries and territories, including 22 in Africa. Since 2020, the Group has structured its CSR approach around five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health through SDG no. 3 “good health and well-being”.
